The Tree of Life

 

The tree of life is the oldest tree in Bahrain and is found in the middle of the desert in Riffa. It was said to have lived 400 to 500 years till the present day without anybody watering it. It is the only green plant in the desert and is placed near Jabal al dukhan, which basically means a small hill of smoke...It is 9.75 m (32 ft) long Prosopis cineraria tree and is at the top a 7.6 m (25 ft) high sandy tell.

Arad Fort

 

Arad fort existed before the Portuguese invaded Bahrain. It was built by Turks but soon was taken by the Portuguese then it eventually was seized by the Arabs.The fort was built in 1521, when the Portuguese captured Bahrain using their fleet which was positioned in Hormuz, Oman. They used the fort as one of the military garrisons to oppose the  local opposition as well as the Ottoman interference which targeted to re-establish Bahrain to the Ottoman Empire through their Wali in Ihsa'.It is located near Arad Bay , near Muharraq. It was constructed using straw, mud and stone.

Bahrain National Museum

 

Bahrain national museum was established in 1988. It contains archaeological artefacts. The museum has been thought of and worked on 4 years before it was completed; in year 1984.It has been built on the distinctive 123 km sea-front site set between the cities of Muharraq and Manama. It is arranged in nine detached exhibition halls, each comprising a floor area of 625 square meters. An enormous hallway of 1.45 km links the hall, which is used for momentary exhibitions. Moreover, the Museum has governmental offices, preservation laboratories, storage facilities, workshops, photo labs, plus a library, restaurant, lagoon, as well as car parks. Architecturally, the museum is exceptional: a striking greatly white marble-shaped planned building that lays shining on the seaside close to the harbor. This museum has facts about Bahrain from 6 milliennium.

Bab Al Bahrain

 

Bab Al Bahrain was designed by a British man, Sir Charle Belgrave, in the year 1945. It means 'The Gate of Bharain'.It is located the CBD, Manama. Also, it is the chief entrance to both the Gold souq and tha Manama souq.Bab Al Bahrain has famous Bahrain shops and provides a touch of both traditional and International styles.It's design has changed a little late, 1986, to have a more Arabic and Islamic touch to it.It has is an archway which conveys how close people are to the main religion in Bahrain, Islam;in the olden times archways have been used in islamic mosques. It is quite modern but has this old fashion to it.It is provided with 31 shops.Moreover, its architecture and food as well as clothes designs show how much pride Bahrain has in its culture. 

Shaikh Isa's House

 

 Shaikh Isa's house is placed in old Muharraq,at Shaikh Abdulla Avenue.It offers its visitors an exquisite idea of how royal life was at  the past.It shows how the past ruler of this country lived.It is made up of many rooms and a large library as well as 4 courtyards.It is has great heritage plus implys how islamic architecture was viewed.It represents the tradition of Islamic architecture through windtowers also wall carvings.It is a great way to teach tourists and its people about Bahrain's history and that is why it is open for people to see from Saturday to Wednesday.It is preferable to see the house at the morning as the afternoon would be the best time to see the view from the windows as light refracts from them.

Siyadi House

 

 Siyadi house is placed in also old Muharraq, near Shaikh Isa's house and Siyadi mosque.It is the house of pearl traders of the Siyadi family at the 19th century, specifically Ahmed bin Qaasim Siyadi.It too reflects the Bahraini tradition and culture with its beautifully stained windows or glass fanlights, wall cravings and lavish ceilings.It is open the whole week round.It is one of the main reasons Bahrain is one of UNESCO's world heritage site!

A'ali Pottery Workshop

 

 A'ali Pottery Workshop is located at A'ali, near A'ali Burial Mounds.It shows and uses the traditional generation-to-generation way to make pottery.It is open at the daytime.You can buy the pottery, the clay and even ask if you can try making the pots in their place.Children and even adults will definitely enjoy this experiance.It was originated at the Dilmun era, 2300 BC.It doesn't take the potter much ime to create the pots and vases, so if your a tourist that is intrested in pots, it is sugessted that you take small pots and if you want ones that are freshly made you can ask and it will be done in minutes.

Bahrain International circuit

 Bahrain International circuit  is located at Sakhir, at the heart of a desert.It is a site which is utilized for GP2,Formula 1 Grand Prix as well as drag racing.It is close to lost paradise, a waterpark, so if you need to cool down before or after , this makes it much makes it a much more enjoyable experiance.It was made by Shaikh Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the crown prince of Bahrain.

 Al-Fatih Mosque

 Bahrain Al-Fatih Mosque is one of the main tourist sites.It welcomes all members of many different faiths though it is is muslims place of worship.It is at Al-Juffair, Manama.It is the largest mosque at Bahrain and is named after the man who opened Bahrain,Ahmed Al-Fatih.It is ever so vast that over 6,500 people can come and worship a a time.Everything at the interior of the mosque comes from many different places and are high quality materials with spectacular designs, for example the floor,has mats as the ground must be clean for prayer,is from Italy. When you walk though the mosque you will notice beautiful writings this is Arabic calligraphy called the Kufic.It is one type of Arabic calligraphy.It is open everyday except the specified day of worship for the muslims, Friday, as well as special occasions.

 Gold Souq

 The Gold Souq is the best place to go to in Bahrain if you are the type of person who seeks ad adores jewellery and gold.They olnly sell pure gold, usually 18 to 22 carat, and rarely above that.They also provide diamonds as well as 100% real  pure Bahrain pearls.In Bahrain it is banned and is illegal to bring pearls that are not entirely real (cultured).Also, if you ask the shop keepers about the certificate that shows that the pearls are Bahraini and not fake ones it means that they have been checked by the government.Bahrain is a global trade center for pearls, that it has  even been rumoured that the pearls on queen Elizabeth's dresses were from Bahrain.It is close to the center of Manama, by the Manama Souq.

 Oil museum

  Oil Museum at Bahrain is one of the famous tourist attractions.It is located nest to the first oil well in Bahrain.That oil well was also the first in the Middle East.It is also situated near Jebel Al Dukhan.It is at Sakhir.The first time oil was drilled from Bahrain's well  was at the 16th of October 1931.The anniversary of this muesuem was at the 2 June 1992.The discovery of oil changed the industry of pearl-diving and destroyed it- there are still a few people who go pearl diving.It is one of the main reasons Bahrain recieves about two million or more tourists every single year.This museum contains the equipment used to drill the oil.In addition, it also contains photographs of people working at that time.
